Epiphanyin the Traditional Worship Service
The season of the Church year that immediately follows Christmas is known as Epiphany. An epiphany is a revelation, a sudden appearance, a drawing back of the curtains. Epiphanies are both heard and seen. Though the season of Epiphany actually begins on January 6, in Traditional Worship we will begin our observation of the season on January 1 with Matthew's story of the visit of the magi. The season concludes on February 19, Transfiguration Day. On January 8 we will observe The Baptism of the Lord. January 15 will find our beloved Pastor Emeritus, the Rev. Charles Barnes preaching and the Rev. Deanne Lynch will proclaim God's Word on January 22. Charles Robinson will be back in the pulpit on January 29 preaching about The Truth-Tellers from Deuteronomy 18:15-20. Plan to be at MPUMC every Sunday in January. Come with open eyes, ears...and hearts. Who knows what our Lord might reveal to us! |
