"40" CWS Sermon Series

 

What comes to mind when you think of the wilderness? Do you think of the dry, cracked, parched earth? Do you see barrenness, wasteland? We often view the wilderness as a scary place. I mean, Jesus spent 40 days there in temptation, who wants to sign up for that?


But when we go to Scripture and we read these amazing stories from the wilderness, an amazing thing happens. Instead of encountering snakes, vultures and wild animals that can run faster than your first car, what we discover is God. God waiting for us. God meeting us. God with us.

Camp Meeting Style Worship Starts July 11


The last three Sundays of July and the first Sunday of August will be "Camp Meeting " Sundays at Mountain Park.  We will sing familiar hymns and enjoy several Stamps Baxter, Fanny Crobsy and Rodeheaver favorites.  The choir has a few anthems I know you will recognize and we will have a quartet/trio to sing during those weeks.  Who knows ... I might even sit at the piano for a Sunday or two.  We always have a great time during Camp Meeting.  So ... invite several friends and let's remember those "Old Time Religion" days and enjoy this experience together.
